About International Justice Day & International Criminal Court :

International Justice Day (also known as World Day for International Justice) is observed every year on 17 July.

The day commemorates the adoption of the Rome Statute in 1998, which established the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The International Criminal Court (ICC), headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands, prosecutes individuals accused of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression.

The Rome Statute entered into force on 1 July 2002, making the ICC the world’s first permanent international criminal court.

India is not a State Party to the Rome Statute, primarily due to concerns regarding national sovereignty, jurisdiction, and certain provisions relating to the Court’s powers.
