Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan to Begin October 3, 2025

Why in the News?

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan will be launched on October 3, 2025 and continue till October 18, promoting farmer-scientist interaction, technology adoption, and sustainable agriculture across Indian villages.

Key Features of the Campaign:

  • Duration: October 3–18, 2025.
  • Objective: Strengthen direct interaction between farmers and agricultural scientists.
  • Activities planned: ○ Scientists and officials will visit villages. ○ Farmers will be trained in modern technologies. ○ Emphasis on scientific farming practices to boost food production.
  • Scale of participation: Thousands of agriculture department officials and scientists to be deployed nationwide.

Agricultural Extension in India:

  • Agricultural Extension: Process of providing scientific knowledge and innovations to farmers for productivity and sustainability.
  • Importance: ○ Bridges research–field gap. ○ Empowers farmers with technology adoption. ○ Helps achieve goals of food security and Doubling Farmers’ Income.
  • Major Schemes & Initiatives: ○ Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) – frontline agricultural extension system. ○ National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA). ○ Digital Agriculture Mission (2021–2025).
