 The Indian Coast Guard commissioned its first indigenously designed pollution control vessel, Samudra Pratap, in Goa on January 5, 2026, strengthening marine pollution response, maritime security, and Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence manufacturing.

  • It is a 5-metre-long, 4,200-tonne ship with a top speed exceeding 22 knots.
  • The ship has an impressive endurance of 6,000 nautical miles, enabling long-duration missions.
