The government announced ambitious targets under White Revolution 2.0 in the Rajya Sabha, aiming to significantly increase milk production and procurement, expand dairy cooperative networks, and promote women’s participation in the organised dairy sector over the next five years. Targets Under White Revolution 2.0:
- The government has set a target to raise milk production from 660 lakh kilograms per day to 1,007 lakh kilograms per day, subject to environmental clearances and compliance with environmental regulations.
- The initiative seeks a 50% increase in milk procurement by dairy cooperatives within five years.
- By 2028–29, procurement by cooperatives is projected to reach the 1,007 lakh kg/day mark, while ensuring environmental sustainability and compliance with environmental regulations.
